V.N. Mahalakshmi is a pediatric surgeon by training and one of the most dynamic contemporary medical educators.
She did MS General Surgery at JIPMER, M.Ch. Paediatric Surgery from Madras Medical College and has been conferred FRCS (Glasgow).
She has many additional qualifications including Harvard Macy Scholar (2018), WHO certified Program in Hospital Management, and Pursuing PhD Medical Education.
She has been the Controller of Examinations, at Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth University for 2 years and Vice Principal (Curriculum), at MGMCRI – for 4.5 years.
She has fronted many of the Curricular Reforms for undergraduate training like the Systems approach to Transition to online learning including effective use of LMS and e-portfolios, Innovative Academic schedules for 250 MBBS students, Creation of STEPS, an integrated modular curriculum, Use of Standardized Patients in medical students training, Formative OSCEs and exit OSCE for personalized competency maps, Faculty development and Capacity building for educational innovations.
She has been the program coordinator, host, and moderator for over 62 episodes of the ongoing FFF webinar series.
She has done more than 40 Presentations at CMEs, National & International Conferences. She has planned and organized >80 FDPs for MEU.
She has received 5 best paper awards at national and international medical education conferences. She has got 15 publications, 12 Monographs, Book Chapters, and 12 IPR copyrights.
She has organized 3 CMEs, 9 National, 2 International Conferences and 1 national level consensus building workshop on OSCEs in Summative Assessment.
She is the recipient of Woman Achiever of the year 2017- Lions’ club, Villupuram District, Tamilnadu.
