N. Ananthakrishnan, an esteemed surgeon and a well-acclaimed medical educator, has worked for 30 years in the Department of General Surgery, JIPMER, Puducherry. He has been associated with Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth University, Puducherry since 2009.
His passion for teaching led him to work as a faculty of NTTC, JIPMER for 26 years and he has trained over 2500 teachers during that tenure.
Amongst his innumerable publications, the book “Medical Education, Principles and Practice” and “Medical Postgraduate Dissertations – a step-by-step Approach” are the most popular and internationally acclaimed.
He has introduced several innovations in undergraduate, postgraduate, super-specialty teaching, and faculty development domains and played a key role as a member of the Consortium of medical colleges, which formed the basis of MCI MBBS regulations in 1997.
He was a member of the expert panel of the Government of India for implementing the “Knowledge Commission’ recommendations and the chairman Of the MCI Expert group on postgraduate education for two years.
As a strong advocate of Competency-Based medical education, Professor AK is committed to the task of pushing research and allied health sciences to a new height.
